I Didn’t Make MacWorld This Year
I didn’t miss much either.
MacWorld has become less and less of a must-attend trade show over the past decade. I have attended every year for the past 15+ years and always looked forward to it. Not this year though. I’m not even sure why?
Is it because the show moved from January to February? Maybe. Is it because the show had no real introductions from Apple? YES! Is it because Apple doesn’t seem to care about MacWorld so why should I? I think that’s about right.
It is the start of a new era.
Don’t get me wrong, there were lots of product introductions this year at MacWorld, but nothing that I couldn’t get from glancing at a website. Nothing that I had to trek all the way across the Bay. Yeah not even across the country, just a BART ride away and I wasn’t interested. The problem is trade shows. They have become less and less relevant in certain markets. Apple has decided that they won’t exhibit at events like NAB (National Association of Broadcasters). The costs involved, travel and planning time aren’t worth the ROI for most companies. Particularly if you have brick and mortar stores across the country.
This brings us to MacCoalition. We launched ProVideo Coalition as an aggregation of the top writers in the video and film market. Each maintain their own channel (blog) and write about products, tips, tricks, tutorials and case studies. PVC has become the leader in it’s space and many of the PVC writers are Mac users and want to share their knowledge with you.
MacCoalition will focus on all things Mac, iPhone, iPod, iPad and iTunes. The Mac and iPod cultures are exciting and ever changing. We’re going to provide you with the inside information to make the most out of your tools and toys. If you have suggestions on topics, forums, etc, please feel free to email me, scott (at) MacCoalition, com.
